The level of depravity that Gisele endured- I cannot even fathom having the wherewithal to continue living, much less stand up to her husband and pride of predators that raped her. Thanks for sharing her story, I had not heard much about it until now. I hope she wins this case - better yet- I hope a law will be in written to protect women from men like this.
I am really sick and tired of People dumping on Emily In PARIS,
WHAT A BUNCH OF HATERS, IT IS ENTERTAINMENT,!!
This is written by Daren Star, who wrote SEX IN THE CITY.
Why the hate? She does not speak well? it is hard to learn , most French agree , they can not even speak it well, I find Emily adorable and smart, and so do my French girlfriends,` Its just a cute look at an ex pat living a life, most women would kill for, Give Emily a break, She is beautiful, and nice, !!
We should help our sisters, and stop the BS, nobody is perfect, her ratings are excellent, so many people love her,
Well I strongly disagree that it’s appropriate for the wife of our sitting president, who has destabilized the country, to appear in a bubblegum show of no real value to France that perpetuates stereotypes. And it would be tasteless if any other leader did the same.
Thank you for writing about this, Lindsey. Outrageous.
-This NY Times paragraph in their article from 25 September really hit me: 'The same lawyers who showed the photographs (most showed a woman’s intimate body parts) of Ms. Pelicot later argued against showing the footage Mr. Pelicot took of the men’s sexual interactions with his drugged wife. That, one said, would impugn the dignity of the men involved. The prosecutors argued that the edited clips were essential evidence — preciously rare in sexual assault cases. The head judge ruled that the clips would not be viewed publicly given their “indecent and shocking” nature.
-Christelle Taraud, a feminist historian in Paris who edited the book “Femicides: A World History,” said that revealed a double standard.'
“It’s only the reputation of men that counts,” Ms. Taraud said. “The reversal of responsibility, transforming the victims into guilty and the guilty into victims is a constant in rape trials.”
Also Giséle Pelicot was asked multiple questions and she finally replied, '“What is it that you’re looking for here in this room, to make me look guilty?”'
Gisele is a hero and so courageous. And the men who abused her and those who didn’t report this are cowards. As for her ex husband. He’s a monster and doesn’t deserve anonymity.
The female person, girl, womenALWAYS GETS THE BLAME because we're all slags, and a lot of that compassion, understanding and sympathy is for public show only. Say one thing and do/think another,it's the rule of the world. I guess Manu wants to stay in power so he's making deals for that purpose. This is a world of One Law for One,and One Law for Another anyway. The rules don't apply to outlaws-outcasts anyway.

I’m glad the story is making headlines globally because it really is reflective of life / risks for women in so many societies.
Very informative newsletter. Certainly lots to think about!
Thank you 🙏🏼

And, MME Macron as well,
Sad that this is the part you felt compelled to address and not the story at the top which is obviously the one that requires solidarity.
Women should always stand together, not matter what the political climate is.

Hahaha. They don't.
Than you for an informed and real look at Paris.
