Incidentally, US citizens living abroad should make sure they're registered, especially with all the voter suppression happening (including mail shenanigans): VoteFromAbroad.org makes it fast and easy.
A real nightmare for 48 million Americans in the US plus tens of thousands abroad! (I think around 19 states for voter abroad are impacted?) I just heard Democrats Abroad will be encouraging voters to mail in general election ballots (using the backup ballot) as soon as their voting state's primary has passed (even today!)... this way, if the USPS bows to pressure from Trump at some point, your ballot has already arrived. This will be vital for folks voting in states like Pennsylvania, Georgia 👀 (we'll hear more about that tonight), and other states with critical races.

It absolutely does impact us abroad. I’m registered in PA and yet mail-in anything is a nightmare now….

We’re many millions abroad! I have almost always ended up mailing in the backup ballot. Voted once in person (2016 😫)

Eric Rohmer was French so the book is a translation (it was his first and only book, published in French in 1946)
