An updated Paris dining & coffee guide!
The New Paris companion guide got a fresh update! Available now.
For my birthday on Friday, I wished for a few things: a healthy year ahead for the finale of my thirties; a delicious year ahead for me and everyone who visits our great city; and a block on fascism in France, of course, but also the U.S. Beyond voting and encouraging everyone to pay attention because this *all* impacts you, I can’t really control the last wish. But I can contribute to the likelihood of the second one!
For the last 2 years, I’ve offered a digital dining companion guide to my book The New Paris which has sold well and, from all the messages I’ve received, been very useful! The thing is, it’s a PDF and it isn’t an ideal format for guides as it doesn’t allow for smooth and easy navigation once you’re on the ground. But my friend and fellow journalist Regan Stephens launched a platform called Saltete with her husband which highlights interactive, expert-written travel guides built for mobile—no need to zoom in on a PDF or copy and paste into map apps. SO, you’ll now find The New Paris Restaurant & Coffee Guide over there, ready to purchase, alongside guides from Katie Parla, Jo Piazza, Erica Firpo, and Regan, herself.
A few of the fun new features:
A “near me” button shows all the recommended places around you in that moment, on a map or sorted by distance in a list
Easy access to key details about each place, like a description, hours, link to website, and tap to call
Itineraries! Each stop appears on a map as part of a highlighted, step-by-step route so you can make the most out of a day or a few hours
Interactive maps with color coded pins
ABOUT THE GUIDE
The New Paris book exceeded my expectations in terms of readership but it captures a movement and a moment in time. It is not meant to tell you where to eat NOW, necessarily (but it does tell you WHY the dining landscape is the way it is and how it got that way).
This companion guide, which also includes excellent spots for coffee, is not meant to be exhaustive! I’ll update it as things change or as I try new or new-to-me places that are worth your time. If you get the guide, you’ll always have access to the most up-to-date version.
Pastry and shops will come in phase two but in the meantime, this collection of more than 200 restaurants, bistros, wine bars, and cafés should be plenty to get you started! Plus, there’s a free preview if you want to see what it’s all about.
🥐 Last thing: if you get the guide by July 31, you’ll get $10 off ! Order now! 🧀
Thank you — I will look!
I hope you celebrated well!! And I share your wishes 🧡. I’ll get the guide as a present for my brother!
