That are more than 'fine'

Last week’s post with Christine certainly sparked a conversation! Thanks for chiming in and messaging us with your thoughts. The affliction does, in fact, appear to be global. Hopefully for Paris, it will be fleeting.

I thought I’d follow that up with some recommendations that are more than fine, that I think are very much worth your time and attention. (More food recs in my series for The Infatuation).

L'Escale on Ile Saint-Louis

L’Escale
A spot dans son jus, as we say, with prime real estate on the Ile Saint-Louis, drenched in natural light, where regulars pack in for a quick chat and an espresso and return for lunch and travelers hold court on the terrace (now open!) that faces the Seine. The coffee hasn’t gotten an upgrade (I must issue caution) but there’s a new owner who had the good sense to bring on the American chef Matt Robinson to oversee the cooking. Everyone has taken notice. There are affordable, simple and hearty dishes of the day at lunch and garlic-stuffed chicken with perfect fries (with a lil skin!) on Sunday. It is already becoming a place you may need to reserve, though not too far in advance, and mostly for Sunday chicken. Better yet, stop in, get to know them, and they’ll pencil you in.
